We all know that the climate is changing and we are all familiar with the problem of global warming. We know that the level of the oceans is rising and the global temperature is increasing. We even know many things about how to deal with climate change. These issues have become part of our everyday life, but how do we know all of this?

At first, we were informed about climate change at school. We learned the definition and we became aware of the problem. Next, we can say that TV provides a lot of information about these issues. However, the largest amount of information on climate change comes from various social media.

How can we see the effects of climate change on social media?

When you scroll through people’s posts on Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram, you pay attention to the most interesting ones but you seldom stop to think that some of these posts show direct effects of climate change. You don’t believe it? You have probably seen a picture of a strangely beautiful sunset with all sorts of wonderful colors across the sky. You should know that such an appearance of the sky is a product of climate change and that is not the only thing. Extreme weather conditions, such as tornadoes in unusual parts of the world, and frequent tectonic activity are consequences of climate change.

The whole world is changing, including fauna and flora. In 2019, over twenty species were declared extinct.

Social media help you see the problem more clearly

Once you see such posts you start wondering if they are real or fake. You do a little research and you conclude that they are real and that they represent the consequences of climate change. The more information you get about climate change, the more aware of the reality of it you become. Next time you see a similar post your mind automatically recognizes the cause of the problem.

It is time to take action

Since a lot of people use Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, or some other social media network, it is easy to stay up to date when it comes to climate change and thousands of initiatives and projects aimed at solving the problem. Social media are the best at spreading information fast. You can find out how to join environmental organizations and groups, listen to lectures or podcasts, read the latest articles and scientific studies, and so on. You can make your own videos of making a contribution to saving the planet, post them and inspire others to take action themselves.

As we can see, social media networks have played a critical role in informing us about climate change and its effects on our planet and our lives. It is time to join hands with people all around the world and intensify our efforts to help the Earth. Thanks to social media, it has never been easier to connect with huge numbers of people.
